Thank you for your interest in our fellowship program.

The National Capital Consortium (NCC) Gastroenterology Fellowship Program (Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center) is a military program, training gastroenterologists for the US Army and US Navy.

Interested internists and medicine residents may search the Army Graduate Medical Education (GME) website for more information. Successful applicants must enter active duty in the Army or Navy prior to beginning fellowship training and will incur an obligation to remain on active military duty for three years after completion of fellowship training.

Applications are accepted through the Army GME website for Army applicants & through the Navy GME website for Navy applicants during the summer and early fall and are considered at a multi-service selection board in November or December. This is a military selection process and we do NOT participate in the the ERAS or the "Match" system.

Please do NOT send application packets or letters of recommends directly to this program or program director as it will not be included in our application process, and have no bearing on your selection.

The selection process has traditionally been highly competitive. A civilian applicant could enhance the probability of selection through successful completion of a tour of duty as a uniformed Army or Navy internist.

I hope you find the above information helpful. Good luck in your endeavors, and feel free to contact me should you have further questions.
